Slated to be launched on 8th of March, the birth anniversary of Sahir Ludhianvi, who was the most noted lyricist and a Padma Shri Awardee.
"We will commence the shoot of this film, inspired by Sahir Sahab, very soon with the aim of showcasing this short in Cannes Film Festival this July 2021. It is my heartiest tribute to the great late Sahir Ludhianviji, as our short film is a tender love story that is based on his songs," Chandrakant Singh announced.
"I feel that the tribute expressed to the great filmy 'shayar' ever in Bollywood, Sahir Sahab (Ludhianvi) through my short film Bheege Alfaaz is equivalent to just like a speck of dust in the universe," Singh mentioned with humility.
After having learnt scripting and direction from New York Film Academy and a director of several TV commercials and documentaries, Chandrakant Singh successfully ventured into feature film direction in 2008 with Rama Rama Kya Hai Dramaa? He has then directed several films like Bin Bulaye Baraati, Be Careful and Arbaaz Khan's Main Zaroor Aaunga among others.
BHEEGE ALFAAZ is a love story that has Sahir Sahab's lyrics and songs. It is a beautiful love story of a couple who are poles apart, who express their emotions and feelings through Sahir's songs only to discover that they have developed a certain amount of fondness for each other and gradually leading to affection and then suddenly realize that they are in love with each other. Clarifying on originality, Singh mentioned, "The widely admired lyrics of Sahir's songs are being rendered by the characters in their own voice, thus conveying their feelings for each other in a poetic way."
"And the beauty of the film is that the love-birds couple who are in their mid 20s are shown as today's couple of the present generation. It is their passion for discovering the lyrics of Sahir that draw them closer to each other. This blossoms into love through the songs and 'Nazms' of Sahir Sahab," expressed Chandrakant Singh.
"Throughout my journey of filmmaking, I have related the most to the lyrics of the songs. The soul (aatma) of any song is its lyrics and its music is like the outer costumes (pehnava) while singer is the body in the literal sense. Alfaaz sangeet ki jaan hoti hai, which means that lyrics are the soul of any song," Singh explains.
Singh further quotes, "You will notice that the songs of the late twentieth century are still being listened to, and considered as a treat to the ears. Where as today's songs are more of a feast to the eyes. That is why the old songs are still referred to as - Sadaa Bahar Gaane."
"Sahir Sahab is such a towering personality, that thorough this film BHEEGE ALFAAZ, even if I am able express his greatness, be it even to the measure of the size of my fingernails, I would greatly feel that I have gained something invaluable in life," summarized Singh.
